Francesca Draughon, Ph.D. (Founder, Piano)
Francesca is a classically trained musician and musicologist. She received an undergraduate degree in music performance and music history from Indiana University's famed School of Music, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Musicology from UCLA. Her career started at Stanford University, where she taught interdisciplinary humanities courses in the Introduction to Humanities Department as a post-doctoral Fellow and music history courses in the Music Department as Adjunct Faculty. She began teaching private music lessons to children and adults in 2009, and found that to be her greatest joy. She also plays keyboards and sings back-up vocals in a local rock band.
Todd S. (Guitar, Piano, Bass, Ukulele)
Todd studied music performance at Foothill College and jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. For the past 20 years he has been playing guitar in local indie rock bands, performing and recording original music, as well as performing in a jazz trio. He has recently been concentrating on composing experimental electronic music. He has been teaching guitar, bass, and piano to students of all ages and skill levels for the past several years at various music schools throughout the bay area. He also teaches lessons on music engineering and recording arts.
Zhaoxu C. (Cello, bass)
Prior to receiving a Bachelors in Musicology from UCLA, Zhaoxu trained as a cellist at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in China. She has worked as a music educator for several years, with particular focus on cello pedagogy, advanced music theory, musicianship, ethnomusicology, and Alexander Technique. As a cellist, Zhaoxu has performed with the UCLA Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, and several chamber ensembles.
Yoonsun (sunny) K. (Piano)
Yoonsun, a classically trained pianist, started playing at the age of 5. She studied piano at the College of Music at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. She has been teaching private lessons to children and adults for over 30 years, works as an accompanist throughout the Bay Area, and sings and performs with several Bay Area choirs.
Mike E. (guitar, ukulele, rock band, choir)
Mike toured the US multiple times as a solo artist, playing up to 150 events per year. He is an award winning songwriter, who believes in the power of music to inspire audiences and create community. In addition to teaching thousands of private guitar and ukulele lessons, he recently spent a year bringing music to over 150 children per week at schools on the peninsula, and led an 18-member Guitar Ensemble at a local high school. He has a degree in Computer Networking. When he is not teaching he continues to perform at venues in Northern California and beyond.
joshUA m. (saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, ukulele, rock band)
Joshua is a saxophonist and composer/improviser. He graduated from Brown University, earning a B.A. in Music through their multimedia program, and holds an M.F.A. in Music Performance from Mills College. In addition to teaching privately, Joshua has served as a guest instructor at Mills College, and has held various woodwinds and ensemble teaching positions at local music schools. Joshua has performed and recorded with numerous local music groups, and his own music has been featured in festivals and conferences nationwide.
