Francesca Draughon, Ph.D. (Founder, Piano)
Francesca is a classically trained musician and musicologist. She received an undergraduate degree in music performance and music history from Indiana University's famed School of Music, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Musicology from UCLA. Her career started at Stanford University, where she taught interdisciplinary humanities courses in the Introduction to Humanities Department as a post-doctoral Fellow and music history courses in the Music Department as Adjunct Faculty. She began teaching private music lessons to children and adults in 2009, and found that to be her greatest joy. She also plays keyboards and sings back-up vocals in a local rock band.
Sedat A. (Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, Piano, Percussion)
Sedat is a practicing lawyer and rock musician in his native country of Turkey. He studied Guitar and Music Theory in Istanbul, receiving his Certificate from the Modern Guitar Music Academy along with his Law Degree. He has over 8 years experience teaching music, and 15 years experience playing guitar and recording with well-known bands in Turkey and throughout Europe. He plays and teaches a variety of styles including rock, blues, jazz, funk, pop, fusion, blues and reggae.
Todd S. (Guitar, Piano, Bass, Ukulele)
Todd studied music performance at Foothill College and jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. For the past 20 years he has been playing guitar in local indie rock bands, performing and recording original music, as well as performing in a jazz trio. He has recently been concentrating on composing experimental electronic music. He has been teaching guitar, bass, and piano to students of all ages and skill levels for the past several years at various music schools throughout the bay area. He also teaches lessons on music engineering and recording arts.
Zhaoxu C. (Cello, bass)
Prior to receiving a Bachelors in Musicology from UCLA, Zhaoxu trained as a cellist at the Xi’an Conservatory of Music in China. She has worked as a music educator for several years, with particular focus on cello pedagogy, advanced music theory, musicianship, ethnomusicology, and Alexander Technique. As a cellist, Zhaoxu has performed with the UCLA Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Symphony Orchestra, and several chamber ensembles.
Gabrielle B. (Violin, Viola)
Gabrielle has studied violin since the age of 4. She was a member of Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, formed and performed in a piano trio at school, and is currently a Merit Scholar at the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View. She is classically trained and particularly enjoys playing in small ensembles, but she also arranges, rearranges, and performs rock and pop songs for violin.
Kris A. (Piano, Guitar, Ukulele, Voice)
Kris is a professional artist with over 20 years experience. He began college as a double major at age 16, studying both jazz and classical performance. Kris grew up in a musical family, with a father who played with some of the biggest artists of his time and numerous family members who are professional musicians and music teachers. His own private instructors were internationally known musicians as well. Kris has worked in youth development, charter school programs, and in private music instruction. He thinks music education should be fun, and believes that inspiration is key!
Thomas W. (Guitar, Ukulele, piano)
Thomas studied music in Paris at L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin in Strasbourg France and at the San Francisco Conservatory. As a concertizing classical guitarist, he has played all over Europe and in the Middle East. As a pedagogue, Thomas is dedicated to training the next generation of musicians and provides an enthusiastic approach to learning the guitar, ukulele and piano.
Yoonsun (sunny) K. (Piano)
Yoonsun, a classically trained pianist, started playing at the age of 5. She studied piano at the College of Music at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance. She has been teaching private lessons to children and adults for over 30 years, works as an accompanist throughout the Bay Area, and sings and performs with several Bay Area choirs.
